picture dated 1948 showing Ircne Joliot-Curie together with Albert Einstein. The Curies' daughter Ircne and her husband, Frereric Joliot, were awarded the 1935 Nobel prize for chemistry. Marie Curie and her husband, the French physicist, Pierre Curie, were the discoverers of radium and won the Nobel prize for physics in 1903.

Fille de Pierre et Marie Curie, Ircne Joliot-Curie est nee r Paris le 12 septembre 1897. Elle travailla aux c?tes de sa mcre dans son service radioghraphique pendant toute la duree de la guerre. Aprcs l'Armistice, Ircne Curie entre r l'Institut du Radium. En 1920 elle obtient sa licence cs-sciences mathematiques et physiques. Elle epouse Frederic Joliot, assistant au laboratoire Curie, en 1926 avec qui elle travaillera desormais. Elle deccde r Paris, le 17 mars 1956.
