The kite in flight, RHAYADER, WALES, A RARE leucistic red kite representing only one percent of the species has been captured in mid-flight. Images show the white coloured red kite soaring elegantly through the sky in Mid-Wales, taking a moment to ensure the photographer captured its good side. This bird of prey is understood to have a condition called leucism - giving it a white plumage rather than the species' usual red These images were captured by sales manager Paul Way (53) from Cardiff, Wales. Paul captured the rare bird in Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Station, Rhayader, Mid Wales on his Canon R5 camera, Canon EF 300 F2.8ii lens. “A very rare bird to see and capture. I was super excited,” said Paul. “I’m always very excited to visit Gigrin Farm with the hope of seeing a very rare Leucistic red kite. “The fact that I’ve photographed something so rare, is a wonderful feeling. “There are only ten in the UK and sometimes two can be found at the farm. “Most days there’s one Leucistic red kite visiting and two if you’re really lucky. “Gigrin Farm is a very special place to see Red Kites that all wildlife photographers should visit.
