Les Bird has shared the stories of these Vietnamese boat people. TAI O, HONG KONG: HARROWING images taken by a former British police officer of Vietnamese refugees arriving on boats to Hong Kong have been published for the first time in a new book. In one image, Vietnamese men, women and children can be seen piled onto a makeshift boat with their eyes glued to the Hong Kong maritime boundary. Another image showed Vietnamese children lined up along a fence among the refugees by border patrol. The fascinating images have been released in the new book Along The Southern Boundary by Les Bird and is published by Blacksmith Books. Les Bird is a former officer in the Royal Hong Kong Police, he served for two decades starting from 1976. He was a rural officer in the remote fishing town of Tai O, and was involved in bringing in Vietnamese refugees along Hong Kong?s maritime southern boundary. mediadrumworld/LesBird
