A photo from the Library of Congress of social reformer, pacifist and lawyer Inez Milholland, who in 1913 led thousands of women up Pennsylvania Avenue on a white horse in the first major suffrage parade in Washington. Artist Jeanine Michna-Bales' project about Milholland, once exalted as a martyr but whose contributions to the suffragist cause later fell largely from view, tells the story of her activism through a mix of photographs of landscapes and historical re-enactments, contextualized with historical ephemera.
