A photo taken on November 6, 2018 shows a cross at St Symphorien Military Cemetery where the British Prime Minister is scheduled to take part in the First World War commemorations, in Mons. - British Prime Minister Theresa May will lay a wreath at the graves of John Parr, the first UK soldier to be killed in 1914, and the last, George Ellison, who was killed at 9:30am before the armistice became effective at 11am. The cemetery at St. Symphorien was established by the German Army during WWI as a final resting place for British and German soldiers killed at the Battle of Mons. Among those buried here is Private John Parr, the first British soldier to be killed in action on the Western Front and facing Parr's grave of George Ellison of the Royal Irish Lancers, the last British soldier to be killed during the conflict.
