Surgeon Arthur Trost stands next to X-rays at a Salzburg hospital 25 August 2001 during a press conference concerning the leg injuries sustained by Austrian ski champion Hermann Maier in a road accident. The X-rays confirmed that the ski star suffered serious injuries in the 24 August 2001 accident. Maier, who will miss the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, broke his lower right leg and suffered several lesser injuries to his body. He underwent a seven-hour operation headed by Trost.
