Lady May Cambridge, only daughter of the Earl and Countess of Athlone, was married in the tiny 16th century church at Balcombe, England in afternoon on Oct. 24, 1931, to Captain Henry Abel Smith of the Royal Horse Guards. The Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of York were present, Princess Elizabeth acting as one of the tiny bridal attendants. Princess Ingrid of Sweden was a bridesmaid.
