Ten Czech Jewish refugees, who had arrived in this country on Wednesday and spent the night is a local police station as their passports were not in order, were taken to Croydon Airport on March 30, 1939 in London, to be flown back to Warsaw as they could not remain in this country. When the time came for the plane to leave, however, they fought and pleaded with the policemen who were trying to put them on board the plane. Finally the declared they would throw themselves out of the plane when it took to the air so the pilot refused to fly it and the refugees were taken back to the police station. They will leave this country today, March 31, by boat. (AP Photo)
