AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
Oklahoma's Grady the cow may go down in history as the animal to make more newspaper headlines than any of her forebears. Here's the placid Grady in her silo prison on the farm of Bill Mach near Yukon, Okla., last February 25, 1949 before her much publicized rescue. Grady, a Hereford cow that fell into the silo on Feb. 22, was rescued three days later after she was tranquilized and lifted by two halters. (AP Photo)
