The first concrete was poured Tuesday on a section of interstate 65 in Hardin County. The section runs from the end of the Kentucky Turnpike on May 27, 1959 at Elizabethtown to U.S. Highway 31-W near Upton and, excluding two small sections of expressways at Louisville, is the first interstate project of considerable length to be paved in the state.
