AP Historical Hard Drive 2008
The main highway from Saigon to Dalat, in French Indo-China passes through Vietminh-Infested Forest between Bien Hoa and the Annam Border. For this reason this 100 Kilometer stretch is only open to traffic twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays between 10 am and about 4.30 pm. During this period, vehicles are dispatched at three minute intervals while armored cars patrol the road, ground troops patrol the brush in the immediate Neighborhood of the highway and contact is maintained by the armored cars with fighter planes based some 50 miles away. A truck driver shows his trip permit on March 18, 1951 at Bien Hoa to military police, in the back is a sign showing the day's MP recognition sign to guard against Vietminh troops posing as MP's.
