The explosion of a Soviet barrage balloon over Moscow, with which a German bomber collided during a raid on that city July 10, 1941, emitted such heat that the shawl worn by the plane's radio operator was badly singed. The planes motors calmly continued their work and the plane landed safely at its home airport. The crew found a piece of the barrage balloon attached to their plane and are shown in photo examining this unusual souvenir of their raid on Moscow. (AP Photo)
