AP Historical Hard Drive 2007
President William Henry Harrison riding to his inauguration in 1841 in Washington. The old painting gives the impression of fair weather but actually as often on inauguration day- it was foul. Harrison, pelted by rain during trot to the Capitol later stood barechested for more than an hour in an icy wind to give his inaugural address. He contracted pneumonia and died one month later, aged 68. (AP Photo)
