Musician Ned Evett plays music on one of his fretless guitars at his studio in Boise, Idaho Monday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2004. Evett, who began playing the guitar at the age of 15, removed the frets, the small, metal bars that run along the neck of a guitar, and created a more unique sound. The range of sounds, and Evett's range of style, are possible because of the instrument's neck. It is made of smooth glass, with no frets marking the notes and deadening the strings.(AP Photo/Troy Maben)
