The Dionne quintuplets are shown in May 1943, a few weeks before their ninth birthday, as they made their trip to Superior, Wis., to launch five newly completed Liberty ships during World War II. Three of the Dionne sisters are seeking $10 million compensation from the Ontario government for exploiting them as children. Not only were they the first quintuplets on record to survive more than a few days, they were also identical, still a rarity even in the days of fertility drugs and sextuplets. (AP Photo,)
