With the triumph of the monarchists in the Greek plebiscite, it became possible to release the monarchist prisoners who had lain in gaol under the republican regime. The prisoners were hailed as heroes as they left the prisons, and were accorded salutes by military guards of honour. Soldiers raised their rifles in salute and congratulations were extended to the released monarchist prisoners at the prison gates in Athens on Nov. 22, 1935. (AP Photo)
