Setting up market stalls in a large open market-yard at sunrise, in the district centre of Nawa, Helmand Province. The district and its centre, now under government control, had, from October 2016 - July 2017, been controlled by the Taliban, who had overrun it and other districts surrounding the provincial capital of Helmand, Lashkar Gah. In that time, residents and local elders said, the Taliban allowed the local school to remain open, to an extent encouraging the area's residents to maintain normal routines. Several buildings inside the governmental compound were damaged and looted or destroyed and many still show the marks of the occupation and the fighting that occurred as each side fought for control.

A ce moment, selon les rйsidents et les anciens de la rйgion, les talibans ont permis а l'йcole locale de rester ouverte, encourageant dans une certaine mesure les rйsidents de la rйgion а maintenir une vie quotidienne normale. Plusieurs bвtiments а l'intйrieur du complexe gouvernemental ont йtй endommagйs, pillйs ou dйtruits et on trouve encore les traces de l'occupation et des combats qui ont eu lieu alors que chaque partie se battait pour son contrфle.
