Ibrahim in the small Noor mosque of the Pigneto neighborhood starting his prayer. Ibrahim, 60, Roman born, from Tor Sapienza, he lives in a huge social housing in the same neighborhood. He's divorced, his daughter was strongly opposed to his conversion to Islam which she never accepted. Each Friday he's raising funds outside the Great Mosque of Rome to finance the small Noor mosque of the Pigneto neighborhood. He's the vice-Imam there. Devoted to proselytism he conveys a fervent faith. After a disordered and difficult life Ibrahim found relief in the strict rules of Islam, which gave true meaning and direction in his life. An increasingly high number of Italians are converting to Islam. An estimated 80.000 people have already joined the new religion with a plus 4 . 000 per year . Multiple reasons push italians to undertake the conversion path; these include the disappointment for the Catholic Church , a marriage with a Muslim , cultural attraction for Middle Eastern countries plus an array of social and political ideals . The rules of Islam are hard testing the Italian convert who however identifies values , consistency and motivation in the strict discipline of this religion . Sabrina , Ibrahim and Cristina are three Italian converts that we followed in their daily life , from routine to prayer.
