(NYT37) NEW YORK -- Feb. 4, 2007 -- BYRNE-MUSIC-REVIEW -- David Byrne at Carnegie Hall performing selections from "Here Lies Love," a forthcoming multimedia production about Imelda Marcos on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. "This is quite a place to audition new material," Byrne deadpanned at Carnegie Hall on Saturday night. On the third evening of this experimental hero's four-part "Perspectives" series, he presented a work-in-progress song cycle to a packed house. Byrne offered 20 selections from his forthcoming multimedia production about Marcos, the former first lady of the Philippines and an enduring symbol of despotic extravagance and shoe love. Byrne's wry song introductions were the best part, delivered wide-eyed with his boyish stammer. (Hiroyuki Ito/The New York Times)
