(NYT7) NEW YORK -- Jan. 27, 2007 -- PFIZER-PLANTS-2 -- The boarded-up original headquarters of Pfizer on Barlett Street in the borough of Brooklyn, N.Y., pictured Jan. 25, 2007, still has the 1849 on the top of the building. If this area on the Williamsburg-Bedford-Stuyvesant border is not quite Pfizerville, it still may be the closest thing to a factory town in this largely postindustrial city. So Pfizer's imminent departure, which the company announced on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 will mean more than the loss of 600 jobs. (Robert Stolarik/The New York Times)
