(NYT6) NEW YORK -- Jan. 27, 2007 -- PFIZER-PLANTS -- Sonia Betts takes her kids to the Pfizer charter school, pictured Jan. 24, 2007 across the street from the Pfizer plant where her husband worked until he was let go last year. The school is in a Pfizer building leased to the city. If this area on the Williamsburg-Bedford-Stuyvesant border is not quite Pfizerville, it still may be the closest thing to a factory town in this largely postindustrial city. So Pfizer's imminent departure, which the company announced on Monday, Jan. 26, 2007 will mean more than the loss of 600 jobs. (Robert Stolarik/The New York Times)
