Mulally during a news conference Sept. 5, 2006 at Ford Motor Company headquarters in Dearborn where it was announced that Mulally, formerly of Boeing, was taking over as chief executive, succeeding Bill Ford who became chairman. Ford reported on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, that it lost $5.8 billion in the fourth quarter alone making 2006 the worst year in its history with a total loss of $12.7 billion.
