(NYT26) EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. -- June 16, 2006 -- PET-DETECTIVE-ADV18 -- Pat Lillis posts a flier in East Hampton, N.Y., for yet another lost pet on Thursday, June 15, 2006. Pets who have spent most of their lives in apartment buildings in the city, with doors, elevators, doormen and leashes between themselves and trouble, catch a glimpse of the wide world outside their new country homes. And like that, they're off. In the Hamptons, frantic owners eventually are referred to Lillis, an iron-tongued Irish woman originally from County Cork who is the South Fork's favorite pet detective.
