(NYT40) BROCKTON, Mass. -- June 15, 2006 -- BBM-ZANY-TEAM-2 -- Players signing autographs during one of the Brockton Rox' tamer promotions, Family Funday in Brockton, Mass., on Sunday, May 28, 2006. On other days, the Rox minor league baseball team have handed out bobble-ankle and bobble-arm dolls. Among the Rox' multitude of promotions, which are at least wildly idiosyncratic if not fully zany, was a race around the bases between a Little Leaguer starting at home plate, and the pile of rocks. The rocks, of course, were given a head-start and placed on third base. The Little Leaguer won; the rocks never left the bag. (Robert Spencer/The New York Times)
