(NYT1) HUSTAI NATIONAL PARK, Mongolia -- Oct. 10, 2005 -- SCI-WILD-HORSES-1 -- Przewalski's horses grazing at the Hustai National Park on Aug. 11, 2005. The wild horses here are making a comeback in what international experts say is an encouraging experiment in wildlife management. The horses, once abundant, had become extinct in the wild more than 40 years ago. Wildlife biologists led by a Dutch preservation group organized a breeding program of the horses surviving in captivity and, in 1992, started reintroducing them in Mongolia. (Chang W.
