(NYT33) BATON ROUGE, La. -- Oct. 9, 2005 -- DISASTER-CONSULTANT -- Former FEMA director James Lee Witt in an emergency operations meeting room in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. In rushing into trouble when others were running away, Witt displayed the energy that won him wide praise for his service as the nation's top emergency official -- and the nickname "The Master of Disaster." The much-criticized performance of FEMA after Katrina hit has only enhanced his reputation. But as he applies his skills as a consultant, Witt is having to step deftly to avoid being perceived as a disaster profiteer. (Lori Waselchuk/The New York Times)
