(NYT5) DANBURY, Conn. -- Feb. 27, 2005 -- CARS-RACECARS-COLLECT-2 -- Racecars converted to road use in Jim Glickenhaus' garage in Danbury, Conn., in October, include a Ford GT40. Among the most valuable collector cars are racing machines that claim a piece of motorsports history, including Ford GT40s that became legends at Le Mans in the 1960s, or the very first Ferraris. Glickenhaus, a former investment banker, has a garage full of these racetrack icons, and like some of his fellow collectors he actually drives them on the street -- with state registration papers, license plates, annual safety inspections and all.
