(NYT4) DANBURY, Conn. -- Feb. 27, 2005 -- CARS-RACECARS-COLLECT -- James M. Glickenhaus from Rye, N.Y., is a collector of rare vintage racecars, which are stored in Danbury, Conn., in October. Among the most valuable collector cars are racing machines that claim a piece of motorsports history, including Ford GT40s that became legends at Le Mans in the 1960s, or the very first Ferraris. Glickenhaus, a former investment banker has a garage full of these racetrack icons, and like some of his fellow collectors he actually drives them on the street -- with state registration papers, license plates, annual safety inspections and all.
