(NYT41) SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Jan. 30, 2005 -- GOOGLE-YAHOO -- Jeff Weiner, the senior vice president of Yahoo's Search and Marketplace unit, in front of a screen showing the company's new video search engine, at Yahoo headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif., on Jan 28, 2005. Last Monday, Google representatives called analysts and reporters to trumpet a new service that searches the transcripts of television broadcasts. Yahoo, Google's rival, got wind of the announcement and within hours, its publicity machine had bolted into action to say it had a similar service in the works. (Peter DaSilva/The New York Times)
