(NYT4) BANDA ACEH, Indonesia -- Jan. 2, 2004 -- ASIA-QUAKE-BANDA-ACEH-4 -- One of thousands of bodies is carried off by rescue workers after being pulled from the rubble in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2004. The town, hit by a tsunami last Sunday, was the hardest hit in South East Asia. With many thousands still missing, rescuers in the part of Southeast Asia that suffered most from last weekend's earthquake and tsunami stood ready to call off their search for survivors. U.S. forces pressed ahead with one of their biggest relief missions ever with the death toll likely to hit 150,000. (Scott Eells/The New York Times)
