(NYT34) NEW YORK -- March 5, 2005 -- NY-PRICEY-PAPER -- Lauren Marrus in the stock room of Dempsey & Carroll, the venerable stationery company in New York that she is working to reorganize and revive on Wednesday, March 2, 2005. Marrus is convinced that there is a growing market for what she calls "the simple joy" of the handwritten note, as e-mail and instant messages start to become a dizzying blur. "Written correspondence is a real way to break through," she said. (Jennifer S. Altman/The New York Times)
