(NYT71) FREEHOLD, N.J. -- June 16, 2004 -- DNA-1968-ARREST-3 -- Dolores Ramirez and Joan Conway at Monmouth County Court House in Freehold, N.J., on Wedensday, June 16, 2004. The Monmouth County prosecutor, John Kaye, called the discovery of a suspect, Jerry L. Bellamy, 53, in the long-dormant case of Jane Durrua, 13, who was raped and murdered in 1968, a miracle, produced in part by appeals by her two sisters, hard work by two detectives who reopened the investigation, and a lab director's willingness to bend protocol a bit.
