(NYT17) NEW YORK -- June 18, 2004 -- ADV. FOR JUNE 20 -- PLASTIC-SURGERY-DEATH -- The Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital on East 64th Street in Manhattan, June 16, 2004. The deaths of two plastic surgery patients at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital earlier this year -- one of them was the author Olivia Goldsmith -- caused many prospective patients to cancel surgeries at this, one of the most prestigious cosmetic surgery centers in the country. Business soon recovered, but it may take another big dip after this week's findings by the medical examiner of the causes of death. (John Marshall Mantel/The New York Times)
