(NYT43) CORLEONE, Sicily -- June 2, 2004 -- ITALY-MAFIOSI-2 -- A hotel built by cooperative Libera Terra, which puts to good use property and land confiscated from Mafia bosses in Corleone, Sicily, on May 4, 2004. These days, Corleone, the town that gave its name to Marlon Brando's jowly don, is at the center of a continuing war. Tired of fighting with the Mafia, the government has linked up with a team of young agronomists to confiscate the property of some of the most notorious Mafiosi and to plant the land with melons, chickpeas, lentils, grapes and wheat.
