(NYT30) NEW YORK -- June 14, 2004 -- LANGONE-WALLSTREET -- Kenneth Langone, chairman and CEO of Invemed Associates, in his office in New York in March. Langone, the former director of the New York Stock Exchange and outspoken defender of Richard A. Grasso's pay, defended his conduct on the board -- again. In a telephone interview from his Long Island home on Sunday -- one of several he had with different news organizations that day -- Langone denied that he misled the stock exchange's board, discounted any chance of a settlement and promised to fight to defend his name in court, views he expressed in an op-ed article for the Wall Street Journal last week.
