(NYT10) NEW YORK -- Oct. 3, 2003 -- NY-AFRICANS-REBURIAL-3 --A woman's hand touches the exterior of a group hand-made caskets from Ghana, made for the African Burial Ground Memorial Project, as a procession transporting the caskets made its way through the streets of Lower Manhattan near the South Street Seaport, Friday, Oct. 3, 2003. They were en route to a African burial ground. More than 400 caskets containing the remains of slaves will be re-burried after they were discovered a decade ago during building construction in Manhattan. (James Estrin/The New York Times)
