(NYT18) NEW YORK -- March 12, 2003 -- CIR-MEETUP-2 -- Several hundred people turned out at a downtown Manhattan bar last week to hear a dark-horse presidential candidate, Howard Dean. As political events go, it was a resounding success. Even more remarkable was that the prime mover was an Internet startup called Meetup.com, which is something of an online matchmaking service for group with common interests.
