(NYT29) NEW YORK -- March 8, 2003 -- BROADWAY-STRIKE-4 -- With the musician's strike on Broadway continuing Saturday, March 8, 2003, matinee performances were cancelled at musicals. Emilio Benoit, right, who has worked at the Majestic Theater for 17 years which hosts "Phantom of the Opera," greeted disappointed visitors and helped with ticket refunds, Saturday. The two sides in the Broadway labor battle -- the producers and the musicians union -- do not agree on much, and as of Saturday morning, March 8, 2003, they remained far apart on the divisive issue of how many musicians should play in an orchestra pit. Both sides and many Broadway observers do agree on one thing: It all went terribly wrong terribly quickly. (Richard Perry/The New York Times)
