(NYT56) HAIFA, Israel -- March 5, 2003 -- MIDEAST-ISRAEL-BOMBING-5 -- Nurit Farhafti, 79, a piano teacher, injured during a suicide bombing that took place aboard a bus in Haifa, Wednesday, March 5, 2003, lies in a hospital bed in Haifa, Israel, with her son Ariel present at her side. Farhafti says she was standing at the bus door and waiting to get off when the bomb exploded. At least 15 people were killed and about 40 were wounded in the bombing of a bus Wednesdsay. The attack coincided with a two-week-old Israeli military offensive against Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip in which dozens of Palestinians have been killed, including some civilians.
