(NYT9) NEW YORK -- Aug. 22, 2003 -- IRAQ-U.N.-MISSING -- On her 54th birthday, Marilyn Manuel gave her family a gift: a phone call from Iraq that stunned relatives who had thought she died in a Baghdad terrorist bombing. Manuel was included on the United Nations list of people killed in the Tuesday attack on the U.N. headquarters in the Iraqi capital. Her relatives' mourning was interrupted by Manuel's middle-of-the-night call to the family home in Queens.
