(NYT20) SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Aug. 22, 2003 -- CALIF-CONSERVATIVES -- Dan Davidson, the senior pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church in Santa Ana, Calif., calls himself a conservative Republican and very much wants to see Gov. Gray Davis removed from office. But he will not support Arnold Schwarzenegger, because of what he considers his unacceptably liberal views on social issues, particularly his stance in favor of abortion rights and his tolerance for gay unions and adoption. Davidson at Bethel Baptist Church in Santa Ana, Calif., on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003. (J. Emilio Flores/The New York Times)
