(NYT16) FREEPORT, Maine -- August 21, 2003 -- 24-HOUR-BEAN-3 -- LL Bean, a retail store in Freeport, Maine devoted to the great outdoors, is the largest tourist attraction in Maine, hauling in three and a half 3.5 million customers annually - nearly three times the state's population.
