(NYT25) WESTPORT, Conn. -- June 8, 2003 -- STEWART-WESTPORT-2 -- In Westport, Conn., the town she once publicly snubbed, and where people subsequently signed a public letter of good riddance, the freshly indicted Martha Stewart has become an object more of sympathy than derision. Main Street in Westport has been alive with Martha talk since the hour Stewart's indictment was announced last week, said John Steinberger, 57, an employee of the Liquor Locker. Steinberger in front of the store on June 6, 2003. (Michelle V. Agins/The New York Times)
