Three nonprofit Off-Broadway companies have made it their business to exhume the dust-covered works of forgotten, or nearly forgotten, playwrights. In New York in August, Jonathan Bank, the artistic director of the Mint Theater Company says "I have no interest in doing museum pieces or curiosities.''
