(NYT16) SEDALIA, Mo. -- Aug. 11, 2002 -- LIVESTOCK-CHEATING-3 -- At state and county fairgrounds across the United States, a plague of cheating in the mid-1990s forced leaders of the 4-H and the Future Farmers of America to concede that junior livestock competition in many cases was no longer good, clean, character-building fun. The junior livestock circuit has moved quickly and aggressively to reform itself from within. Noseprints taken from contestants noses at the Missouri State Fair. The prints are taken to confirm the identify of the livestock and catch cheaters. (Susan Pfannmuller/The New York Times)
