(NYT46) NEW YORK -- Aug. 1, 2002 -- MIDEAST-U.S.-VICTIMS-7 -- Candles sit in front of photos of the seven victims of Wednesday's bombing at Hebrew University in Jerusalem at New York University as students from the New York and New Jersey areas gathered in solidarity at NYU Thursday evening to mourn the victims. Wednesday's bombing claimed seven victims from around the world, five of them American citizens, in what Hamas called revenge for an an attack on a senior leader of their militant Islamic group in Gaza City in mid-July.
