(NYT16) PRINCETON, N.J. -- July 3, 2002 -- PRINCETON-WOMEN-2 -- For women who have long felt locked out of leadership jobs in the Ivory Tower, the changes at Princeton are a signal moment, an occasion to take stock of a fundamental shift, but also to think about how much more is left to be done in terms of senior faculty and administrative positions. Three of the eight presidents of the Ivy League colleges are women. Last year, Shirley M. Tilghman became the first woman to be president of Princeton University. A week later, she named Amy Gutmann as provost. Gutmann on campus. (Keith Meyers/The New York Times)
