(NYT16) CHICAGO -- Feb. 17, 2003 -- CHICAGO-CLUB -- At least 21 people died and 30 more were seriously injured early Monday morning in a terrifying stampede that erupted at a swank after-hours club on the South Side of Chicago. Security guards used mace and pepper spray to halt a fistfight between two women, the authorities and witnesses said. Family members of Antonio Myers, 22, who was killed at the Epitome Restaurant in Chicago Monday, February 17, 2003, react during a press conference at the Rainbow Push Coalition headed by the Rev. Jesse Jackson. (Peter Thompson/The New York Times)
