(NYT11) LITTLETON, Colo. -- Feb. 6, 2003 -- STATION-WAGONS -- In the cult of the station wagon, owners and enthusiasts often go to great lengths to find the wagon they grew up with, had their first date in, or owned when they started a family. Steve Barnes, 41, a mail carrier from Littleton, Colo., hired a private detective to track down a duplicate of the bright, white 1971 Dodge Monaco that his father refused to buy for the family when he was 10 years old. Barnes, left, his wife Cathi and their sheep dogs inside his station wagon in Littleton on Feb. 2, 2003. (Kevin Moloney/The New York Times)
