(NYT14) NEW YORK -- Feb. 14, 2003 -- PROSECUTOR-EXECUTE -- Opponents of the death penalty point to "The Exonerated,'' a play by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, as powerful and irrefutable evidence that will force supporters of capital punishment to rethink their positions. The play, which has been presented to strong reviews in Boston, Chicago and Washington as well as New York, depicts a capital justice system filled with bias, error, tricks, lies, cruelty and institutionalized bloodlust. Mary Jo White, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan for almost a decade and a cautious supporter of the death penalty, waiting to see "The Exonerated" at the Bleeker Street Theater in lower Manhattan on Feb., 6, 2003.
